The Greenway: Westport to Achill cycle track

Last month, myself and himself cycled the Greenway in Co. Mayo. It’s a 43km cycle and walking track which stretches from Westport to Achill.

We cycled there and back again in the same day, fuelled by a few pit-stops along the way, including lunch in the lovely Mulranny Park Hotel.

A puncture on the way back meant we stopped for cake in Newport while my tyre was being patched – thank you, bike shop near the bridge, whose name escapes me!

It was so enjoyable to travel under our own steam, away from traffic (there are a few stretches on the main roads, but they’re short), and among so many other cyclists and walkers of all ages.

I’d thoroughly recommend the Greenway to anyone spending time in Mayo.
